Can I commission an original piece?
Absolutely! I love working together and creating an original piece just for you. You can provide as little or as much feedback. I'd love to hear about where you envision it going, what pieces of mine you are drawn to and what colors you love or would love to see in the piece.
Work on paper or on canvas?
The first question to decide is do you want a work on paper that will ultimately be framed or would you prefer a canvas piece on stretcher bars? We can also do a piece on un-stretched canvas that you can take to a local framer to have stretched and/or framed. This option greatly reduces the cost of shipping.
What sizes do you offer?
Since this is a custom piece, we can pretty much decide the perfect size for you. Anything from a small 8x10 to a grand 48"x72" piece. There is an additional fee for custom sized canvas pieces - those that are not part of the standard sizes that I offer - of around $75-150 depending on the size. This is because I will have to work with my framer to create a custom canvas for you. The custom canvases are absolutely stunning though. Top notch. Incredible quality.
How much does it cost?
There is an up-charge on the cost of commissioned works. There's a lot of love and collaboration that goes into making a custom piece. I want to make sure that I do my best to create exactly what you are looking for, so a lot of time and thought will go into creating the piece. This also allows for any tweaks or changes that need to be made before you receive the finished piece.
Ok, what if I don't like it? Or wish it had just a little more...?
No worries! I am happy to make changes to your painting. No additional charge. I really want you to love it and will work with you until you are happy with the finished piece. And if ultimately, you just can't wrap your arms around it, I can issue you a refund. No questions asked. This has never happened before (gosh I hope it never does!), but I want you to have the piece of mind in your investment.
How long does it take?
This depends on my work load. On average, about 4-6 weeks. Super busy times, it may be a bit longer. Once we discuss your piece, I will be able to give you a more exact timeline before we begin. And of course, if you have a deadline, I am happy to work together to make it happen if I can.
How much does it cost to ship?
Smaller pieces will often ship free, depending on size and weight. We really try to offer this with most non-oversize pieces so there are no surprises. When we discuss your piece, I will provide you with a shipping estimate up front. Shipping internationally? No problem. We can either do a work on paper or on un-stretched canvas. The work on paper will ship in a box or an art mailer. The canvas will ship in a box or tube. Then you can take it to yoru local framer and have them frame and/or stretch your piece for you. Very simple to do and I will be sure to leave plenty of extra canvas around the painting to make this a piece of cake for your framer. And if we are framing your piece for you, shipping will always be included, no matter what the size. For large works on canvas (over 30"x40") we work with a professional shipping company to create a custom crate for your piece. Unfortunately, while this ensures that your piece arrives to you in perfect condition, this is not cheap. An oversize painting will ship for around $400. We can always remove your painting from the stretcher bars and ship to you un-framed. In this case, it will ship free. And then just take the piece to your local framer and have it stretched and it will be ready to frame on your walls.
