Partly autobiographical, partly aspirational, this series is inspired by the color and pattern of the natural and commercial world, and explores how we internalize the myriad of visual and thematic cues we receive on a daily basis. I’m very interested in representing our individual and collective notions of beauty and the influence commercial media has on these.
My aim is to welcome the viewer into my world…a diaristic, pixelated blend of reality and dreams. Each hand-cut bloom itself intended to echo the inherent beauty and wonder of the world all around us, lifting us out of the mundane and connecting us with that something more.
IT ALL STARTS WITH A LITTLE VISUAL STIMULATION
I begin by collecting pieces of the imagery I encounter each day, combining these with sketches and drawings of assorted visual memories and daydreams.
